Building a team of humanitarian workers heading to the border of Ukraine and Poland
A dynamic group of activists from various backgrounds – animators, educators, trainers, volunteers – decided to self-organise a team which will help people who are fleeing from the terror of war.
The mission of the group is to: provide a safe space of playful encounter and strengthening of self-perception of children and young people fleeing from war zone. They formed two parallel teams: one helping directly at the border of Ukraine and Poland; and the other providing activities for children at main arrival hubs in Berlin.
During the assemble and preparation process the activists had various training – e.g.: psychological safety, dealing with kids from traumatized background – including a workshop of Applied Improvisation.
Our facilitator, Peter led the latter workshop to empower the activists which will be heading to the unknown. The aim of the workshop was to:
Get to know each-other
Embrace open and effective communication among the newly forming group-members
Empower the activists with skills such as adaptability, flexibility and quick response
Since the training and the preparation time a month has already passed and these amazing people are already doing an extraordinary job and bringing smile to the faces of kids who have encountered the horror of war. Hats down.
Here are some impressions about our training during the preparation process:
